This is my last message…

Lust has always overcome me, ever since I was a child, since I was 10 years old, I already had a tendency to watch porn; the only tendency I have stopped doing: even now, despite continuing to sin with impurity, I have not wanted to throw myself back into porn, because I am aware that it is very wrong, it disgusts me.

Unfortunately, impurity, videos of women and girls, have taken hold of me. I struggle and I lose. 

Despite everything, I lose, I am destined to fail miserably. There was a brief period (July-August) when I went to confession, recited the Rosary and did not sin with impurity (and I felt good, because despite everything, I am only well when I know I have received Jesus’ forgiveness) and prayed morning, afternoon and evening, Father Angelo.

During those months, I experienced God’s love. I was so at peace with myself. Anything could happen to me, but His love was inside me. How I loved those months.

I would so much like to leave everything behind—school, family, various problems—and devote myself solely to Christ, receive His forgiveness again, and start over…

I would like one thing from you, Father Angelo: that you pray for me. I have sunk so low that I no longer feel guilty and I don’t care. Before, I would even cry if I sinned in the slightest…

I beg you, with a hardened heart, to pray for me.

The priest’s answer

1.Yes, my dear, I gladly assure you of my prayers that you may suddenly be freed from this bond that keeps you enslaved to lust.

You have already experienced this summer the inner freedom that comes with purity of heart, mind and body.

Of course, new temptations will arise. But for the love of the Lord, you will overcome them.

Yes, for the love of the Lord. Because if there is no higher motivation, you will never succeed.

Even a small amount of love for the Lord is enough to give you the strength to overcome any temptation.

2.If you overcome even one temptation for the love of the Lord, you will realise what happens almost immediately afterwards.

You will experience what Jesus said in John 14, 21: “Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him”.

Once you have overcome temptation for the love of the Lord, you will immediately see what the love of the Lord is like.

While our love rejoices in the good it finds before it, the love of the Lord instils goodness, that is, it instils grace. And grace upon grace.

You will immediately be enriched by God the Father and also by Our Lord Jesus Christ, who, in addition to communicating grace to you, will also give you a deeper knowledge of himself.

3.In other words, you will experience what St Thomas Aquinas said, namely that “those who overcome temptations deserve to be served by angels”.

He says this in his commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, where we read that at the end of the forty days of fasting and temptations by the devil, “the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him” (Mt 4:11).

St Thomas said this because he had experienced it tangibly. He even saw the angels serving him and bringing him purity from God that would never be tarnished in the future.

4.I would be happy if you began again to be pure with a will accompanied even by the smallest degree of love for the Lord.

Experiencing immediately what Jesus Christ guaranteed in John 14:21, you too will be able to exclaim with the psalmist: “I run in the way of your commandments, for you have enlarged my heart.

Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, and I will keep it to the end.

Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with all my heart.

Guide me in the path of your commands, for in them is my happiness” (Ps 119:32-35).
